Godsmack started small in 1995 with Sully Erna in the forefront leading the way and Robbie Merrill and Tony Rombola as team members of the band. The band recorded their first CD and went on to play at various venues all over Boston. Soon the band gained huge popularity amongst the streets of Boston with the trio recording various CDS and singles that started selling like hot cakes all over New England. Godsmack is currently comprised by members Sully Erna, Guitarist Robbie Merrill, Lead guitarist Tony Rambola and Shannon Larkin playing the drums.
Despite their success, it wasn't till 1998 that the band went on to sign with the Republic/Universal label. Then on, the band released five albums: the self-titled Godsmack, Awake, Faceless, Godsmack IV and The Oracle. In addition to their own big arena tours, Godsmack have also toured with prominent artists like Black Sabbath and Metallica. Godsmack received a lot of appreciation for their music over the past couple of decades. Band member Sully Erna once stated that his musical style was influenced by Layne Staley of Alice in Chains, however the band has also had strong influences from Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Rush and even more recently White Zombie.
